  1. If it couldn't overwrite any part of the backup due to protection, it left the whole backup intact on the tape.

There is a TCP/IP parameter dealing with delayed acknowledgements that gives DP a lot of trouble on different platforms. Because the Backup Job sets the Protection after the Backup Job is done. We are doing Backup 2 Disk 2 Tape.
